Over the last several years I’ve been reflecting on our mortality and the need for home, love and comfort as we age. It’s something I've been called to write about, a reflection of my age I guess as I see long time friends and family pass on, many prematurely. It’s a different kind of record than my last several records both musically and in the lyrics. It’s darker, more pensive, much more in line with my writing from the late ’90’s which came after my father's passing.

The musical landscape started with a few drum loops, a small keyboard and the few guitars I own. It then slowly found it’s way as I explored, and indulged a bit, alone in my home studio. With the recent addition of bass by my friend Lelah Simon along with drum kit by my son David, I felt it complete. David then offered to mix and master these recordings for me. They are now finally finding their way to you.

I’m releasing “Shipbuilder” in two parts … this fall and next spring with hopefully a vinyl release planned for next year as well. Listen to it in it’s entirety if you can, all the better.
